How it works

Upload once, compare seven results, download the winner. Your text stays selectable.

  1. Upload

Your PDF stays in your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers.

  2. Compare

We run seven compressions and show file size plus page previews. Pick the one you like.

  3. Download

Save your choice. You only use a credit if the file is actually smaller (more than 0.1%).

Built for larger files

Many online compressors cap uploads at 100MB. With credits, ShrinkPDF supports files up to 200.0 MB — processed privately in your browser, one page at a time.

  • · Hundreds of pages — allow extra time; keep the tab open.
  • · Very large files may hit browser memory limits (an OS constraint, not unique to us).
  • · We warn you before compression when a file is unusually large.

Quality vs. file size

We run every method for you — you don’t pick a setting upfront. After compression, choose the result that looks right.

Keep it sharp

Compare Light, Structure only, Print quality, or Balanced. Best when text must stay crisp or photos already look good.

Shrink it more

Compare Strong, Photo focus, or Maximum. Smaller files, but check the page previews — photos may look softer.

Text stays selectable on every method. If nothing looks good enough, don’t download — no credit is used.

Private by design

Your PDF is processed locally in your browser. Files are never uploaded to ShrinkPDF servers.

FAQ

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. Your PDF is processed locally in your browser. Files are never uploaded to ShrinkPDF servers.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no signup, no login, and no subscription.

How do I compress without losing quality?

Upload your PDF and press Compress. ShrinkPDF runs seven industry-style methods (stream cleanup, embedded-image optimization, font subsetting) and shows previews side by side. Pick the version that looks best — text stays selectable.

What types of PDFs compress best?

PDFs with large embedded photos compress best. Text-heavy files benefit from stream and structure passes. Compare all seven results and download the one that fits your size and quality needs.

Can I compress a 33MB file down to 200KB?

Only on image-heavy PDFs, and only with stronger methods like Maximum or Photo focus. Compare previews before you download — we show honest file sizes for every result.

Why do large files fail in the browser?

Browsers limit how much memory a tab can use. Very large files (hundreds of MB) or PDFs with thousands of pages can exceed that limit. ShrinkPDF processes page by page to help, but OS and browser limits still apply — the same constraint affects other browser-based tools.

What file sizes are supported?

Up to 50MB on the free compression. With credits, up to 200.0 MB per file — higher than many competitors that cap at 100MB.

How does pricing work?

$1.50 for 15 compressions. Pay-as-you-go only — no accounts and no recurring subscriptions. A free run or credit is only used when compression achieves meaningful size reduction (more than 0.1%). Already-optimised PDFs are not charged.

Where are my credits stored?

Credits are stored on this browser and device using localStorage and a cookie.
